海と、向き合う。
祖父が始めた車海老の養殖を、父が継ぎ、叔父が継ぎ、私が今、預かっています。
百年と少し、瀬戸内の海の音を聞きながら、海老を育ててきました。
車海老は気難しい生き物です。
水温が一度違うだけで、餌の食べ方が変わります。
だから私たちは、毎日同じ池を見て、同じことを記録します。
それを百年続けてきたことが、神田商店の唯一の自慢です。
My grandfather began farming kuruma prawns; my father continued his work,
then my uncle carried it on, and now the task is entrusted to me. For over a century we have raised these prawns
while listening to the sounds of the Seto Inland Sea.
Kuruma prawns are particular creatures — a single degree of water temperature
changes how they feed. So we look at the same ponds each day, and record the same things.
Having continued this for a hundred years is the one thing we are quietly proud of.
